April Is Earth Month
April 19, 2011
As the concern over environmental impact grows, we are seeking more ways to reduce waste and save energy. Our newest endeavor is an initiative in collaboration with Gallins Family Farm to use the waste from our cafes for composting. Composting creates a renewable energy source, keeps waste out of landfills, supports local farmers, and improves soil quality for better crop production. It reduces fossil fuel usage, greenhouse gases, and waste disposal costs. As much as 90% of kitchen waste can be diverted through the Gallins Family Farm composting program, reducing the waste produced by our cafes tremendously. For more information about Gallins Family Farm and its composting program, contact Peter Gallins at the email address below.
