Wholesale Food Prices Rise

Food prices rose 3.9 percent last month, the biggest increase since November 1974, according to a recent report by the Associated Press. The sharp rise in food prices is being attributed to two main factors: increased energy prices spurred by growing demand and the turmoil in the Middle East, and bad weather in the past year that damaged crops in several countries that are large vegetable producers. While we know this will affect our pricing on the food we serve, we will have to wait and see the extent of the effects before we know how it will affect the prices our customers see in the checkout line.
